The most famous quote from our lady deer hunters was: "I can spend the day with my husband without any Neanderthal deer camp mentality." When it comes to deer hunting and women outdoors whether it be for deer hunting or any other hunting activity we are in the same condition as many other organizations and that women deer hunters are a minority. What the lady deer hunters have done very well is to show their male counterparts there is more to deer hunting than just the harvest. It is a matter of enjoying the quality of time with a significant other be it a husband or child that makes the time together worth all the effort, the deer hunting part is just the means to that enjoyment. This lady deer hunter harvested all three deer from the same stand.
Several Association lady deer hunters have out produced their husband counterparts and that has been attributed to their greater patients at remaining on deer stand.
Our women outdoors does not always mean being a hunter. It also
includes sharing the day with a hunter as is this case (left). Such
outings during the hunt, scouting trip or summer time fishing give
one more opportunity to spend time with that special someone. And there are other activities that non-hunting partners conduct.
Bob and Joanie spend much time together outdoors with Joanie adding to her bird photo album while Bob is deer scouting. Bob has yet to get Joanie in a deer stand, she has spent some time in the blind turkey hunting the spring season. |
