Andrew

Rough scored at 135 - My best bow kill to date.

Got to hunting location a little late and the sun was well on the way up, but it was still not bright out. I was walking through the uncut bean field which went to a bottom. When I was able to see the bottom I spotted a deer. I put the glasses on it and thought it was a pretty good buck.

Immediately he started coming at me so I crouched down to get my bow ready. This included getting my release out of my bag and knocking an arrow. I only had a black under armour shirt on with camo pants. By the time I looked up he had made his way to about 50 yards and was making a scrape on the edge of the field. I continued to watch and he came just about right at me. 15 yard shot. Usually those moments happen and after the fact one thinks, "if only it were hunting season and had my weapon of choice." Today was my lucky day.

That is where the fun begins as I am .75 miles back in an uncut bean field.

After a couple of hours to make sure he was expired I found him. I could not drag him alone. I am small guy. I called my girlfriend who without complaint grabbed my deer cart and drove the hour up to the hunting location. We got the cart in and she helped get him all of the way out, 2 hours later.

Best of luck to all!

Congratulations on your pesonal best. Thnak you for the hunt account, the little details you pointed out count.

Another.

John and Jon,
As always, I had a another successful (not measured on number of harvests) year hunting on club land. Even though I have been hunting a while now I saw some things I had never seen before.

I had passed on several deer before harvesting the doe first in this picture. As luck would have she came by looking behind her many times. Assuming a buck was with her, I waited it out. It was a large racked buck, but luckily for his sake he only had one side.

I decided to take the doe at that exact moment my contact fell out. After 3-4 minutes of trying to get it back in, I finally succeeded. I harvested the doe. The buck made a 10 yard circle around her and would not leave. Seeing how interested he was, I waited yet again in the hopes something else might show up.

I proceeded to give up and took my safety belt off. I looked up and the buck in the picture came yards away from my tree. Thinking it was meant to be, I harvested the buck also. The other buck did not leave until I was 10 yards from him on the ground.

All in all, some good memories.

Thanks again for everything.

Sincerely, Andrew

Dear Jon and John,

I wanted to let you know what a world class organization you have and how my hunt this fall went. I was able to take my best deer yet and here is the story that goes along with it.

I found a property for bow hunting this year that I really liked. I did not see much but the sign and conversations with other members told' me there were plenty of deer on the property. When it came to gun season I was the new guy and I did not want to step on anyone's toes. Other members had hunted this property for years so I asked Jon to direct me to a less pressured property. I checked it out in the last few weeks before the season and I decided that it was to far away and I had insufficient time to scout, although I plan to return, as the property looked great. As it turned out, I placed my stand on a "small" 5-7 acres that no one hunted. I was not expecting much. My thinking was no one hunted here so it must not be that great of a spot. I had scouted it though and the sign and sightings looked promising. Opening morning, after 15 minutes of daylight, I was able harvest this personal trophy. Upon dragging it out, I found a fresh scrape that he had just worked. I harvested another personal trophy in my previous residence Wisconsin exactly one week later. What a season it has been, hopefully next year will prove as fruitful.

Again, I can not say enough about MAHA. It really does give one the best bang for your "buck". I would recommend it to anyone. Turkey season is just around the comer, and I can not wait.

Good luck to all, Andrew
