The common deer hunting trip planning details representing those frequently asked about are posted below. Before reading those points the first step in regards to Mid-America Hunting Association is to call us and receive recommendations where to hunt based on habitat preferences and method of hunting. We will offer the hunter a listing of numbered leases to consider well in advance of his hunt. That hunter then can go to his favorite aerial website and using our lease maps find those leases he may want to spend some hunting or scouting time on from first to last. That hunter then goes to our lodging section and reserves his own motel room. At that point the hunter simply waits until his vacation time to hunt. This type of jump start is intended for the first year member and for older members traveling for the first time to either Kansas, Missouri or Iowa after having hunted one but not the others. Typically what happens after a hunt or scouting trip or two that hunter develops favored areas and simply returns to that locality and expands outward from that home area. Season Specific Points of Consideration
General TopicsAll hunts are on 100% natural deer and habitat, no enhanced food plots, baiting or fences, no guides. A quality deer management program on non-contiguous acreage without a guide being present at the point of harvest is not viable. While we do not have any trophy or rack penalty fees. We do encourage hunters to harvest bucks with racks larger than what they already have hung on their wall. This works up to the 140 class deer and after that all bucks are trophies. Meat hunters are encouraged to harvest as many adult doe as they like. No game production guarantee at all. Our definition of a good deer hunt is hunt the deer season of choice, on the habitat of choice, choice of deer hunting style, on the hunter's schedule, without competition from others. A quality deer hunt is the Association's only assurance that the hunter will renew his membership each year. Portable, climbing and ladder deer stands are permitted. Screw-in steps are legal. Sunday deer hunting are permitted by state law. No guests at any time under any circumstance. Our land is leased for its whitetail deer habitat quality in historic production areas. Not all parts of the states where we lease land are equal and we serve as the hunter's friendly point of contact to get to the right region. Lodging, meat lockers, etc., listing are available though our lodging section.
Multiple doe tags are available over the counter. Kansas and Iowa tags are by draw and Missouri tags are over the counter. Hunters must apply for their own tags. All Association land leased is private land, posted and patrolled. Not all of our lease land is for whitetail hunting. Our wetlands are exclusively for waterfowl hunting. No checking in with the landowner is required of the hunter. |
