Deer lease

Overview

A good example of what it means to hunt within the 55% agricultural land use region of Missouri where the better deer hunting is to be found. For every 1,000 acres we lease 550 with be in crop. Of the 450 acres remaining not all will be good deer cover. If 200 acres is good deer cover then we have a good deer lease. That good deer habitat will be where the tractor and plow cannot go and will be within the drainages of the watersheds. That is the nature of central mid-west deer hunting leases where farming is very efficient and the deer have plenty of food to grow big.

Variety

If interested in a variety of game on the same hunting trip or during the same season be it muzzleloader deer or other, it’s available at no extra charge.

Muzzleloader deer hunting in the morning and in Missouri moving to a quail or duck hunt in the afternoon is common on some of our leases. Walking up a pheasant and/or a covey of quail without a dog is very possible, but a dog is definitely an advantage.

Our Missouri waterfowl hunting on our private wetlands and fixed blinds offers another opportunity. This is enhanced as many MAHA waterfowl hunters welcome other members to share their blind and decoys on the same day. The late November and early December Missouri muzzleloader deer season is a prime time to jump shoot waterfowl from corn fields, ponds, creeks and lakes.

If spring turkey hunting is desired, Missouri claims number one status of the sport. It’s common to see winter flocks of 30 plus birds from while fall deer hunting. If a good flock of birds is located and are comfortable with that farm, mark your calendar to make reservations for spring turkey season. Many of our small farms never see a hunter during the spring turkey season.

To keep our costs down, we don’t provide lodging. Our website has a listing by state and county of local hotels, motels and bed and breakfast within 15 to 30 minutes of our Missouri deer lease land. Camping is permitted on a limited basis. Many other hunter services (meat locker, tow truck) are provided by our MAHA Yellow Pages.

We always want feedback from all members about their deer hunts. This email is one such example of the positive feedback we receive. We do not expect all feedback to tell of good deer hunts and this website contains other example of less than desirable hunts to represent balance about our hunt quality.

Jon and Staff,

I just returned from my annual mid west deer hunting trip, and I wanted to take a moment to send you a thank you note for the excellent service that you provide. I really enjoy being a member, and I’m really impressed with how well you deliver on what you promise. You certainly do provide hassle free access to some of the best leased deer hunting land in the mid west, and your service helps make my hunting fun.

This was my fifth year hunting with the association. In those five years, I have killed two bucks. This year, I saw and passed on more antlered deer than I can count, and I also saw more turkeys in five days than I have ever seen in my life. The quality of the habitat was excellent, and I did not encounter another hunter in the field. It was just a total pleasure.

Last year’s deer scored 144, and I’ve set a personal standard that I’m only going to shoot bucks that are larger than I have shot before. As such, I probably will not shoot many more antlered deer, but I’ll have a possibility on your deer leases, and the trips are fun regardless of whether I kill something or not.

Again, thank you for your excellent service. Please keep up the good work.
