I had spare
photos, so rather than scanning and Email, I sent them for your use and
edification. The season started slow, few deer of any kind. Then the last week
of October things heated up quickly. The 29th I arrowed a fine buck and the
second day of gun season
I was rewarded with a nice 11 pointer. Although neither rack was exceptional
both deer weighed more than 200 lbs, which is exceptional for [deleted]. Both I
and the landowner were very pleased with these fine trophies. I should add that
both these bucks came after a very loud rattling sequence. I am looking forward
to the late archery season and muzzleloader season to fill a bonus tag. It has
been another great year. My thanks to your organization and
wonderful staff. I will send a season closing report in January. Good luck to
those of you that hunt and my best wishes for the coming holidays. Kevin

With the hunting season drawing to an
end, I am taking this opportunity to give you the results of my hunting
efforts. Spring turkey season was an unqualified success. I harvested a
23-pound tom and saw many others. Deer archery season although somewhat
slower than last but was still extremely productive. It hunted the same area
as the previous two seasons.
The drought had an obvious effect on the deer this year. I saw only a
few does. Most of the deer I saw were bucks! I was fortunate enough to
harvest a fine 10 pointer the first of November. For those members who
have yet to discover rattling and grunting, I urge them to learn. This
was the second buck I have taken following an aggressive season of
rattle and grunts.
Deer gun season was equally productive although it lasted only two
and half-hours. I took a nice doe that had been pushed out of a thicket
by an eager 8 pointer. I know he will be around next season. I had told
the landowner that I would not take another buck unless it was bigger
that the 10 point I had already taken.
I may harvest another deer during the late archery season, but my
primary focus will be on turkey.
I have again had another tremendous hunting season thanks to the opportunity
your Association has provided and the incredible hospitality of the
landowner on whose property I hunt. For the past three seasons I have
hunted the same area and have yet to see another bow hunter. Admittedly,
I am somewhat spoiled over my good fortune. I do however realize that
all members in good standing have a right to the same kinds of hunting
opportunities that I have enjoyed. In addition, if that means an
increase in hunting pressure in the area I hunt so be it. It is not an
easy area to hunt. However, quality deer hunting abounds. Again thanks
and have a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and a safe hunting
season.
Sincerely, Kevin
