The Association staff do for the hunters that which the hunters
would not like to do. That is scout the land, select the game productive
habitat, track down landowners, negotiate a contract, cull out the non
productive land, conduct public relations with the landowner and protect the
investment by 12 month/year management. Who wants to do all that - hunters just
want to hunt. Pay for hunting with cash or spend at least a week knocking on
doors.
Hunters are not paying for a hunt, only the opportunity to hunt.
90 Days
We do not chase the record book for where we lease
deer properties. An example is Daviess County where we have leased land for
nearly 20 years. We knew this was a good area, we managed the hunting
there, the land went un-pressured and we produced many a good buck. Then
recently Daviess County made the state record book for the most and largest
racks. Suddenly everyone thought Daviess was the place to hunt.
We
have many more places like Daviess and will get the hunter into them long before
anyone publishes a new record book. |
