Second Deer Season

MidAmerican,

Thanks for another great year. Was only able to come out once this year, but managed to connect with a nice [location deleted] muzzleloader 8 pt.

Sorry for the pictures not so professional, but the mature buck took me by surprise at 2:30 PM in September, radio said it hit 93 degrees that afternoon, getting a 180lb buck out of the woods and 300 hundred yards back to the truck alone didn't leave any energy for proper pictures. (thank God for deer carts!) Anyway can't wait for this fall, first year a big [location deleted] bow buck, second year [location deleted] muzzleloader, this year fingers crossed , maybe [location deleted]?

See you in the fall,

Ellis

P.S. Also sent pictures of sheds and large skull found and wrote about last year.

First Whitetail Deer Season

John or Jon,

Just writing to tell you my experience with Mid America was great. I wasn't sure if this would be as good as it sounded before I signed up, but I took a chance and believe it was money well spent.

I drove out alone from southern N.J. to [location deleted] for muzzleloader, hunted 2 farms and despite 90 degree weather seen several different bucks but none over 2 years old. Still had a great time. Found matched sheds in not that bad of shape in a drainage ditch, also a skull of a monster 11 point still in velvet when it died, not enough of the body to tell cause of death. Both bucks were at lease 140 class.

Drove back home then back out to [location deleted] in early November for a bow hunt. The farm I had reserved turned out to be given to another member when I showed up, but (John or Jon?) apologized and gave me 2 other recommended farms. #1 was a good farm and can't wait to go back but it was so thick and dry, couldn't find a way to hunt w/out alerting every deer. Will definitely go back when I have more time to scout it better. 2d farm I spent 2 days long distance scouting w/binoculars watching deer patterns from several hundred yards, 3d day set up at 11 AM and had a 135" heavy 8 pt down by 3 PM. Awesome time, fell in sight, videoed several other bucks pass after already had one down. My filed pictures didn't come out so I sent a picture after mounted. Still have plenty of video though. Anyway I'm sending my renewal check and can't wait 'till next season. The 24 hr drive from N.J. is worth every mile.

Thank you very much, Ellis T.
