Devin

Hi Folks, I Thought I would drop you a note to show you some pictures of my season highlights. The picture of Bill and myself is our hunt in [location deleted]. In addition to the two bucks pictured we harvested 4 doe. Then its off to [location deleted]. After hours of studying topos and aerial photos I made reservations. I decided to pick a high spot to spend an evening glassing instead of leaving my scent looking for sign. I spotted the buck in the picture at 3PM. I watched his movements. Then I slipped out of the area to return the next day at lunchtime. Same trail, almost the same time. One shot later and he is on his way to the taxidermist. That's the third trip to the taxidermist this year. Mt taxidermist appreciates MAHA almost as much as I do.

Thanks, Devin.

This rub is part of the physical sign that motivated Devin to hunt this location where the whitetail below was harvested.

What is more important to identify in this picture and the deer picture below is just how open habitat is where trophy quality deer occupy.

Some of our non-resident hunters are not prepared to hunt this kind of open ground where large mid-west whitetails run. Not only are the trees widely spread the ground cover is nearly nothing above grass height. Underbrush is scarce.

Devin's hunting partner, Bill, posing with their two whitetails. Notice the rack on Bill's deer and how the tine grows out rather than up.
