Pope and Young Trophy Deer Bowhunting

Many Association bow hunters are members of the Pope and Young Club having the dedication to spend long hours in deer stands and certainly demonstrating the ideals of deer bowhunting as a pursuit of excellence. It is well recognized that much failure is achieved before entering the Pope and Young record book. When such ranking is achieved some bow hunters begin to become competitive. That by itself is not an issue, it is an issue when the competitiveness ranges into being addictive. Within this Association of hunters enjoyment of the day in the field is the primary objective rather than all else. For those that want to spend lonely days in in the tree stand watching nature pass on by then this is the right organization.

Be Mentally Prepared To Pass Up Deer

pope youngMost of our whitetail deer bow hunters are hunting for a trophy deer to hang on the wall must be prepared to pass up bucks. The temptation at lesser deer will present itself and after several days in stand they may become tempting. Proof of this is offered every year by several bow hunters that tell how they shot too soon only to see a bigger buck just a little later. The general rule is if the buck is not bigger than what you already have then let it go for next year. If it's bigger than do your best to harvest it.

For group or family hunters we can place our hunters in large areas where all can hunt from the same vehicle and still have sufficient separation to prevent one from cutting off another.

Hunt A Choice Of Habitat

This deer was tagged over a funnel point feeding a large timbered area.  The surrounding habitat is crop predominate and pasture mix.

Our staff are hunters that tag turkey, deer, bag ducks, train their own bird dogs. They know the land and the habitat to lease. This is the basis of their recommendations to hunters.

The Association also has simple rules that enhance the tranquility of the hunt. No draws, lotteries, harvest reports or other administration that only creates jobs and takes money from the land budget.
