On Deer Hunting
John and Jon, I had passed on several deer before harvesting the doe first in this picture. As luck would have she came by looking behind her many times. Assuming a buck was with her, I waited it out. It was a large racked buck, but luckily for his sake he only had one side. I decided to take the doe at that exact moment my contact fell out. After 3-4 minutes of trying to get it back in, I finally succeeded. I harvested the doe. The buck made a 10 yard circle around her and would not leave. Seeing how interested he was, I waited yet again in the hopes something else might show up. I proceeded to give up and took my safety belt off. I looked up and the buck in the picture came yards away from my tree. Thinking it was meant to be, I harvested the buck also. The other buck did not leave until I was 10 yards from him on the ground. All in all, some good memories. Thanks again for everything. Sincerely, Andrew Andrew's First MAHA Trophy
I wanted to let you know what a world class
organization you have and how my hunt this fall went. I was able to take my best
deer yet and here is the story that goes along with it. I found a property for bow hunting this
year that I really liked. I did not see much but the sign and conversations with
other members told' me there were plenty of deer on the property. When it came
to gun season I was the new guy and I did not want to step on anyone's toes.
Other members had hunted this property for years so I asked Jon to direct me to
a less pressured property. I checked it out in the last few weeks before the
season and I decided that it was to far away and I had insufficient time to
scout, although I plan to return, as the property looked great. As it turned
out, I placed my stand on a "small" 5-7 acres that no one hunted. I
was not expecting much. My thinking was no one hunted here so it must not be
that great of a spot. I had scouted it though and the sign and sightings looked
promising. Opening morning, after 15 minutes of daylight, I was able harvest
this personal trophy. Upon dragging it out, I found a fresh scrape that he had
just worked. I harvested another personal trophy in my previous residence
Wisconsin exactly one week later. What a season it has been, hopefully next year
will prove as fruitful. Again, I can not say enough about MAHA. It
really does give one the best bang for your "buck". I would recommend
it to anyone. Turkey season is just around the comer, and I can not wait. Good luck to all, Andrew
